What Is A Hydro Glow Fishing Light and Why Would I Want One?

Fri, 07/30/2010 - 05:03
The Hydro Glow Fishing Light is designed to attract baitfish and draw in the game fish so you can catch them. Its green color lights up the water and it worked well for me in a bass tournament. I fished around one and came in second in the tournament, catching six keeper bass near the light on a very tough night where half the fishermen in the tournament did not have a keeper.

PETA Potester Protested by Parents

Sat, 07/24/2010 - 04:49
A father takes on PETA over their stance that all animal research is bad. They even claim that the death of a rat is not worth it even if it leads to a cure for cancer. Of course these animal rights groups want to ban all fishing as well as other uses of animals. Share your thoughts about PETA in the comments section below, either pro or con.

Putting Line On A Spin Cast Reel

A reader of my forum asked about putting line on a spin cast reel. A spin cast reel is also called a closed-faced reel and is often the first reel a kid uses. Follow these step-by-step directions to fill your spin cast reel with new line. If you have any suggestions or tips, or disagree with any of my steps, post them in the comment section below.

Was A New World Record Blue Catfish Caught This Week?

Thu, 07/22/2010 - 08:14
A 130 pound blue catfish was landed in the Missouri River this week. It will be a new world record if certified by the International Game Fish Association, replacing the old 124 pound record blue catfish caught in the Mississippi River in 2005.

July is a good time to catch a big catfish. A new Georgia record flathead catfish was caught a few days ago, too.

Spro Little John DD Crankbaits Will Dig Deep

Wed, 07/21/2010 - 05:49
I received a Spro Little John DD crankbait to test and used it in a club bass tournament. It preformed so well I bought two more just like it when I found a tackle store that stocked them. They run to 20 feet deep and will catch bass under the right conditions.

It is a great feeling catching fish on something you came up with. Macon1 wrote on the forum how he modifies a Zoom Speed Worm to make it catch more fish for him, making it into a new bait. More Fishing and Lightning

Sat, 07/17/2010 - 05:43
Lightning is a threat to all fishermen and we must be careful. A shocking boat wash several years ago gave a strong warning to me, and other close calls from lightning over the years have made me respect storms and get to safety.

St Croix Fishing Rod Review

Fri, 07/16/2010 - 05:13
I won a St. Croix Avid AVC70MF rod at a tournament for a second place finish. When I first tried it I did not like it, I was used to a shorter rod and I thought the action was too light. But as I used it more I liked it better and better, to the point of buying two more. They are my favorite bait casting rods for all-around use.

Do Bass Smell?

Tue, 07/13/2010 - 05:25
Many bass fishermen use scents on their baits. Do they help? I use them at times. My favorite is JJs Magic, a dip and dye that gives plastic baits a strong garlic scent.

Do you use scents? What do you like? Tell us about them in the comments section.
